What Nevada Actually Allows

This is where most of the bad advice lives, so here is the plain version. Nevada regulates window film under NRS 484D.440, which restricts tinting of the windshield and the side and rear windows. In practice that means front side windows have to let more than 35% of light through, the glass behind the driver can go as dark as you want, and the windshield only takes non-reflective film above the AS-1 line.

Darkness is also not the same thing as heat rejection — a good film at a legal shade will drop cabin temperature more than a cheap limo-dark film, which is the single most useful thing to understand before choosing.

Choosing a Shade
